If you've recently purchased the Medipaq from Nova Hemp, you may have some questions about what’s included and why. This guide will give you all the details, explain how the product complies with Virginia law SB 903, and help you understand its purpose.

What is the Medipaq?

The Medipaq is a product created by Nova Hemp to comply with SB 903, a law unique to Virginia. SB 903 mandates strict requirements for THC and CBD levels in all hemp-derived products sold within the state:

THC Limitations: Products must contain no more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by weight.

CBD to THC Ratio: Products exceeding 2mg of THC per package must maintain a 25:1 CBD to THC ratio.

The Medipaq has been specifically designed to meet these requirements, even if they aren’t always intuitive or practical for consumers.

What Is the Bag of White Powder in My Medipaq?

The bag of white powder included within the Medipaq is pure CBD isolate—a highly concentrated form of cannabidiol (CBD). Why is it there? Under SB 903 regulations, any product with more than 2mg of THC must also include enough CBD to maintain the state's required ratio of 25 parts CBD for every 1 part THC.

Essentially, the CBD isolate ensures that Nova Hemp products remain compliant with Virginia law.

What Should I Do with the CBD Isolate?

Here’s where things get tricky. The intention of including the CBD isolate is to allow consumers to combine it with existing products. For example, you might be tempted to mix it into the included gummies to create a "kit" that adheres to the law.

However, we don’t recommend this approach, and here’s why:

  1. Taste Issues: CBD isolate is extremely bitter. Mixing it into gummies or other edibles will likely ruin the flavor.
  2. Scientific Concerns: Recent studies have shown that combining high levels of CBD with THC doesn’t reduce the psychoactive effects of THC—in some cases, it can actually enhance them, making the product more intoxicating. (Source: Healthline)

Our priority is to provide safe, enjoyable experiences for our customers, which is why we advise against mixing the isolate with the gummies.

What Else Can I Do with the CBD Isolate?

If you don’t want to use the CBD isolate as intended, there are several alternative options. Here are a few ideas:

  • Create Homemade CBD-Infused Foods: Add the isolate to olive oil, butter, or another carrier oil to create CBD-infused meals or baked goods.
  • Make Your Own Tincture: Combine the CBD isolate with MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil to create a tincture you can add to your wellness routine.
  • DIY Topicals: Mix the isolate into a lotion or balm base to create your own CBD-infused skincare or pain-relief products.
  • Dispose of It: If none of these options appeal to you, you’re free to throw it away.

Ultimately, how you use or dispose of the isolate is up to you. Nova Hemp believes in our customers rights to do what they wish with their body.

Why Does the Medipaq Exist?

The Medipaq, and the inclusion of CBD isolate, serve one primary purpose—to comply with Virginia’s restrictive SB 903 regulations. We understand that this can be confusing and frustrating for our customers. Unfortunately, this is a legal requirement for doing business within the state.

Why SB 903 is a Problem

SB 903’s requirement for a 25:1 CBD to THC ratio was likely intended to promote safety, but research has called this policy into question. According to recent findings, higher amounts of CBD in combination with THC can actually amplify the intoxicating effects of THC, which is the opposite of the law’s intended outcome. (Source: Healthline)

At Nova Hemp, your safety and experience are our top priorities. We’ve designed the Medipaq to follow the law while giving you the flexibility to use the CBD isolate in a way that works best for you—or not at all.

What Can You Do About It?

If you’re as frustrated by SB 903 as we are, we encourage you to take action. Contact the Virginia government and voice your concerns about these impractical regulations that complicate access to quality hemp products for consumers. Your feedback can help drive meaningful change.

Together, we can work toward more reasonable policies that prioritize consumer safety and satisfaction without unnecessary restrictions.

Do THC Drinks Get You High? Effects, Potency, and How They Compare to Edibles

THC-infused beverages produce psychoactive effects similar to traditional cannabis, but they metabolize differently in the human body. Using nano-emulsion technology, these drinks bypass the liver's intensive breakdown process, allowing water-soluble THC to enter the bloodstream directly. This results in a faster onset time of 10 to 15 minutes and a shorter duration of two to four hours. Unlike solid edibles, which can cause heavy physical sedation and unpredictable delays, liquid THC delivers a lighter, cerebral high with precise dose control. Read on to explore the science behind THC beverages, their absorption pathways compared to solid edibles, and specific dosage guidelines to ensure a predictable and manageable experience.
